Lingaa is an upcoming Tamil action thriller film being directed by K. S. Ravikumar, who also scripted the film in collaboration with the film's dialogue writer, Pon Kumaran. The film stars Rajinikanth playing dual role, Jagapati Babu, Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles. Music is being composed by A. R. Rahman while cinematography was headed by R. Rathnavelu. This is slated to get released only in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi language.
POSITIVES: -Rajnikanth - His charisma, style and way of delivering dialogues is amazing. You can easily see vintage Rajni in this movie. He is the only reason to watch this movie. There is nothing else in Lingaa. -Cinematography - One important technician who made everything look grand with his camera angles
NEGATIVES: -Direction - KS Ravikumar's worst till date. Same old techniques. Everything seemed very shallow and lacked detail. The screenplay was not bearable at all.Pretty slow at times.
-Story - Are we Tamilians planning to watch the same old clichéd stories for a 1000 more years? Dad, son, revenge, bad guy etc. Oh! Please. A less than ordinary story. -Bad characters - Villains? I thought they were jokers! Very shallow characterization. -Music - Without any second thought, this is one of ARR's worst in recent years. -CLIMAX - Needless to say, I would be surprised if viral memes aren't created to mock Lingaa's climax
At the end of the day, I feel bad for Rajni sir. I feel that he should have chosen a stronger script for his comeback. And KSR must take note that the tastes of movie watchers has changed tremendously, thanks to new age story tellers and directors of Tamil cinema. He needs to reinvent himself and his direction skills.
Watch it for Rajni sir.Only for thalaivar. There is nothing else in the movie.
The producers have already got back their money by selling distribution rights to Eros.I pity the distributors and theater owners.
I know that many people might down-vote this review and post a 10/10 for the movie. But dear fan-boys, I know that you too are aware of the fact deep down in your heart that this movie sucked big time and Thalaivar deserved something way better.
